On Friday we were hit by freezing rain, so instead of risking driving into work we decided to take a "sick day" and relax at home. I'm glad we did! By the time we ventured out for groceries Friday evening our car was encased in a 1/2 inch of ice!
The next morning we were met with beautiful landscapes - everything covered in ice and snow. Even the nearby stream created some interesting fog in the distance. Everything was so beautiful, and we had some nice mild temperatures. It gives you the illusion that Spring is just around the corner... a cruel illusion once you realize that there's still 2 months to go!

Sunset
I found this picture on my memory card last night, from a couple of weeks ago:
My favourite time of day...

The lion rears his head
I know, I know... I've been neglecting the blog lately. But, I'll make up for it today!
Last Saturday we had a snowstorm... so much for March coming in like a lamb! Not that the cats minded at all. Caesar was completely mesmerized by the birds at the feeder, and was oblivious to the falling snow.
Cleo, however, was having a great time with the snow!
We woke up Sunday morning to a pretty coat of snow on all the trees, and more snow falling.
We headed out in the snow to Oxford Mills, just south of Ottawa, to celebrate my Grandmothers birthday. The main highways were horrible, and everyone was driving in the middle of the two lanes. I was worried the county roads I had to take to get there would be even worse, but actually they were in better condition than the highway! We had a great time visiting with everyone, and we got to see how big our nephew is getting.
The sun was setting on the way home... red sky at night, sailor's delight... it was beautiful!

Fog and Crystalline Trees
A few days before christmas, David and I decided to grab some pizza for supper rather than cook. We were surprised to find fog when we left the house... and not just light fog, but 'drive 40 kph in an 80 kph zone'. Thanks to our digital camera, I was able to get a very grainy picture of the fog, at night, with the ISO set to 1600...
When we got up in the morning, everything was covered in frost...
... but when the sun hit it, every thing glistened!
It was a beautiful drive into town!

Snow!
It started to snow yesterday during our Halloween party, so this morning I decided to take some pictures before it melts...

Foggy mornings
We've been getting quite a bit of fog in the mornings that, when shot in B&W, definitely set the mood for Halloween!
