New Pony!

Our neighbours bought a new pony a few months back, and she finally arrived last Saturday morning. Her name is Kate, and she is 8 years old. They got her to teach their young daughter how to ride. (The still have Zara, the grey mare. She is in the shelter... you can kind of see her legs in this picture.)

Silver, the pony they had last year, was too nervous and they were worried that he might throw their daughter if something happened to startle him. He was sold to an equestrian centre, where they will work with him to get him more used to being around people. Eventually, he will also be able to teach new young riders how to ride.

Frisky Horses

This morning's cool air made the neighbour's horses a little frisky...

Horses!!!

David called me at work today to tell me the neighbour brought her horse & pony home for the summer! They spend the cold months boarded at a farm down the road from us, but lets them graze on her land during the warmer months. We have offered her the use of our back acre for them to graze on... which works out great for both of us. The previous owner did not maintain the grass in the back yard, and right now the grass comes up higher than my knees... a horse's dream come true!
Zara (female, 7 years old)

Silver (male, 2 years old)
According to our neighbour, he actually was
silver coloured when he was younger.
